Description
The termination of a pregnancy by removal or expulsion of an embryo or fetus. Generally refers to induced abortion or deliberate actions to end a pregnancy. Most common forms are in-clinic abortion (also known as a surgical abortion) and medication abortion (also referred to as the abortion pill, which uses two different medicines called mifepristone and misoprostol). Abortion occurring without intervention is known as spontaneous abortion or "miscarriage".
